Background

Born and raised in Plentywood, Montana. Her father was a physician and had farming interests with extended family. Her mother stayed at home raising four children. One brother is a physician in Plentywood. Her sister is a physician in Des Moines, Iowa. Her other brother is a farmer in Havre, Montana.

Education

Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Denver in 1979 with a degree in Finance. Graduated with Honors from the University of Montana School of Law in 1982. Associated with the Brown Law Firm handling insurance defense work (1982 - 1985). Worked as a Trust Officer at First Interstate Trust Department in Billings (1985 - 1986). Graduated with a Masters of Law in Taxation from the University of Miami in 1988.

Law Practice

Established a solo law practice in 1988 at 2812 First Avenue North, Suite 210, Billings, Montana, 59101. This practice continues today at the same location. Practice consists of preparing estate planning documents, including trusts, wills, and powers of attorney; representing clients in guardianship, conservatorship, and probate matters, representing clients in trust administration, and business formation, including limited liability companies, corporations, and charitable organizations.

Community Service

Current Member of Yellowstone County Guardianship Council, a volunteer organization serving as guardians for those without family members; Past President of the Mental Health Association; Past Member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Council; Past Director of Billings Tennis Association; past Co-Chair of the American Heart Association Heart Ball; Member of Cottonwood Park Steering Committee.

Family

Cynthia and her husband have a son and a daughter. Both children attended Billings Montessori School, Arrowhead Elementary, Will James Junior High and West High School.

Activities

Cynthia and her family maintain an active lifestyle with running, water skiing, snow skiing, tennis, scuba diving, and travel.
